On his game plan and partnership with Kohli, Suryakumar said, “My plan was simple. I had to go inside (on the field) and make the tempo higher. I told Virat that if I get 3-4 boundaries in 8-10 balls, then I will keep playing in the same flow. We were thinking of forming a partnership. I knew the wicket was a bit slow. So getting the boundary was getting a bit difficult.

He also reacted to hitting a six off the last ball. Suryakumar said, ‘The square boundary was a little short, so I thought that if I target the square boundary, then I will get the boundary. In the last over, we were trying that the more runs we get, the better. He said on the last ball that if you back down, you will get a six.

It is worth noting that while batting first, India had scored 179 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 2 wickets. During this, Suryakumar faced 25 balls and hit 7 fours and a six.
